  Need help responding to a pioneer

  i posed the question to a pioneer who had been giving me bible studies.

  my question was quite simple: "in john 3:16, doesn't it say that whosoever believeth in him will have eternal life?

  my understanding of this scripture is that eternal life is given to all who believe in christ and believe he died to save sinners.

  One thing that always got me was that they claim you must do works for proof of Baptism (a little off topic I know) yet Simon in Acts 8 only professed belief and was baptized (Acts 8:13). It also clearly said the Holy Spirit was not used (Acts 8:15,16), something witnesses love to counter with on this subject. Now you should ask if all Simon had to do was "profess" faith and nothing more why do you need to study? Why were these men allowed to baptized by only belief? Watch as your pioneer sister can't seem to find answer. When John arrived it wasn't to nullify the baptisms in fact most of them immediately received the holy spirit(Acts 8:17)! No more works conversation after that.

  I'm also on last.fm I just thought this would be a good place to make a playlist and share through web hosting sites. We do it on one forum I am on and it really opens up people to music.
